Applying for the Course
Entry requirements
The entry requirements for the UNIGIS Programme are:
1. a first degree or equivalent, and
2. relevant professional qualifications, or relevant
experience.
Each application is considered individually on the basis of
qualifications and experience. Attitude and degree of commitment are
particularly important. Candidates with an inadequate background in
Geography, Computing or related studies who are otherwise eligible for
admission to the course may be advised to undertake foundation studies.
These may include attendance at appropriate courses or recommended
reading. In some cases, an entrance examination may be required for
acceptance to the course.
No residence permit for UNIGIS students
Before you decide to apply for the UNIGIS programme, please consider the following: The VU University Amsterdam has an agreement with the Dutch Immigration Service (IND) through which the university can apply for residence permits for its students.
In order to be eligible for a residence permit during your studies, a student must be enrolled as a regular full-time student or as an exchange student. For a part-time, distance-learning study like UNIGIS, students do not have to reside in the Netherlands. Therefore the VU University Amsterdam cannot apply for a residence permit for UNIGIS students.
When and how to apply
